Did anyone understand 'The Blair Witch Project' better than I did?

Ok. so I know its an old movie, but I just barely watched it. What exactly is it suppose to be about. I mean, the whole time we're watching it from these guy's cameras, and we know only as much as they know. But what were those noises suppose to be that they heard at night - like the baby crying and the "crackling"? And what was all that "voodoo" stuff hanging from the trees? What were the rock piles and the bundle of sticks found by their tent when they woke up. What was in the bag in the bundle of sticks and what was that suppose to signify according to voodoo. Sorry so many questions.... it just didn't make very much sense. Anyone know?.....
