I cannot figure out what rock song this is.?

It sounds like something from early 70's/ late 60's, it has a repeating old western bit that goes; B, A, F#, E, that each hold for 4 beats, and then it goes back into the rock song (with a lot of guitar fills). Also, the chorus of the song is sung in sort of a falsetto, the guy kind of sounds like david bowie but its not him, i checked. I just cannot think of the name of the song.... please help! it wont get out of my head.
