Good school fund-raising ideas?

Im thinking about joining student government, and i would like to propose better fundraising ideas rather than those dumb catalogs everyone hates to sell and buy... things such as making and selling jewlery or making a game and setting it up at the town hall for the fourth of july... any suggestions?
