If not for war, would Mussolini and Hitler's domestic economic and social policies be considered leftist?

Both Mussolini and Hitler were idolized by the American leftist movement in the 20's and 30's and all took their ideals from Marxist Bolshevism. This is a fact. Just look at the platforms and ideals of the Fascist Socialism in Mussolini's Italy and the National Socialism of Hitler's Germany after WWI and pre WWII and the parallels of today's "liberalism" is hard to distiguish. Modern liberalism is a child of 20's and 30's fascism.
